Yum Yum.

I've been coming around to this whole concept of "family meal planning." As daunting as it sounds, I've learned how handy what a complete lifesaver it is to have fresh and healthy meals ready to go.

So here's what I do: On Monday nights I go through our recipe Rolodex (which is really my email inbox or old school recipe box) and pick out 3-4 dinner recipes for the week, then list them as "Dinner Ideas" on a sticky note. I like this better than assigning them to each day of the week because then we don't feel locked in to making something that none of us feel like, or if something comes up and we don't have time to cook, or if we just want to eat out, then this list still works. Basically it's just a go-to list for Bart and I when either one of us needs an idea of what to eat. It's helpful because we know we already have all of the necessary ingredients for whatever is on the list, as well as an adequate rotation of our favorite restaurants (I'm picky like that). I then go shopping and as soon as the house is stocked, post the list on our fridge (aren't you so glad I provided a picture of this? I'm sure it makes this post all the more riveting). For those of you who are interested in our recipes for this week, click here for the Enchilada Bake, here for Shepard's Pie and here for the Fettucini Alfredo. Stir Fry w/ veggies is all Bart (he's a cook-as-he-goes kinda guy) and the Papa Murphys pizza, well I'm sure you all can figure that one out. ;)

Since this new method has been working out so well for us, I thought I'd share some of the super yummy and EASY recipes (all meatless of course) that we've recently come across and REALLY REALLY liked. Just click on the recipe titles to be taken to the recipes!

  1. I love your menu planning method! I do a similar thing, but it is all in my head. It would be so much easier if I just got something to write the meal ideas down on to put on the fridge! Well done!
