Daddy's Work Shirts

At my husband's previous job, he was required to dress up. Every day. So, after two years of working there, he accumulated a very nice collection of fancy dress shirts. But, unfortunately he kept wearing out the underside of the sleeves where he'd rest his arms on the desk while working on the computer, so he went through them fast. I really liked the fabrics/patterns (some of them even reminding me of when we first met...), so we were just hanging on to them until my amazingly talented sister (click here and here for her other impressive works of art) pressed them, cut them, and pieced them all together to create this beautiful, creative, and sentimental quilt for her nephews.Yes, that's right, look closely at the pictures below and you'll see her incredible attention to detail with how she incorporated part of a shirt cuff, buttons, and even a shirt pocket all from Daddy's work shirts!

Oh, but it gets better.

She then decided to make-do out of the scraps by making this clever little quilt cover/pillow...

Could it be any more perfect? I love how she incorporated this one worn part of the sleeve. The boys will always have this quilt to remember their Dad as such a hard worker. Even Bart got a little bit teared up when he saw it.

So, if any of you are trying to think of good ideas for Father's Day coming up in June, I can guarantee this would make a very special gift. If you have any questions on how it was constructed (I have it in person, and I still stare at it in awe), feel free to leave a comment on this post and I will relay it to her. The boys are soooo lucky to have her as their Aunt!
