So not so...

One of the silliest reasons I've heard for mothers not to become stay-at-home moms (SAHM- I just learned that acronym today) is because she's well-educated and therefore shouldn't waste it. I HATE it when I hear this because I think it not only takes credit away from SAHMs, but it also reverses all of the hard work the women before us did to fight for our right to CHOOSE!

I also know that the true beauty behind education is that no one can ever take it away from you. As I've written about before, not a day goes by when I don't LEARN something new, and I'm constantly utilizing the problem-solving, research, communication, reasoning, and stress relieving skills that I learned during my time in college. I will ALWAYS carry those valuable skills with me because they're what's known as TRANSFERABLE skills that apply to ANY job- MOTHERHOOD included!

So, the next time you hear a mom say, "Oh, I'm just a stay-at-home mom", stop her and remind her that's still a job, a VERY IMPORTANT one at that!!!

By clicking here, you can read an article I came across today on how to stay happy as a SAHM....I LOVE the last 2 on this list!

  1. I agree 100%. I remember thinking when I lived with my cousin and worked in the orphanages in Romania that a SAHM would be the hardest job I would ever have, but I also think it's the most rewarding too! SAHM's deserves much more recognition than they get, i see it as more difficult than any job in the corporate world. Loved the witty comeback about being a CEO of such and such household too! I'll have to remember that one. :)
