Face Off

I am definitely a do-it-myselfer (yup, pretty sure I just made that term up!) when it comes to make-up. They say a girl's approach to beauty starts with their mother's, and my mother always encouraged the au natural look for both my sister and I until we started to show interest in make-up. I think this is why I'm comfortable not wearing any, although I do know what a difference just a quick 5 minutes of accenting certain features of mine can make. For fun, I've decided to list the mix of products I use in my daily face routine; I'd would love to hear what the rest of you consider your best make-up products to be!

Face wash: plain ol' Cetaphil
Toner: H20 Plus Sea Clear Mattifying Toner
Face lotion: plain ol' Cetaphil (and their SPF 30 kind in the summer)
Foundation/Base: Covergirl Aquasmooth with 15 SPF and/or ALMAY Smart Shade Smart Balance pressed powder (most of the times I just brush on powder, but for more coverage I'll do base with a light sweeping of the powder).
Blush: Estee Lauder Blush All Day in Suede or Neutrogena Custom Glow Bronzer in Sunrise Glow
Eyebrows: Estee Lauder Automatic Eyebrow Pencil in Soft Blonde
Eyelids: Clinique Quickliner in Smoky Brown or Clinique Cream Shaper for eyes (hint, if you run eyeliner crayons for a second under water it turns them into a gel liner!) in Egyptian. I've yet to find an eyeshadow that really looks good on me...I know there are eyeshadow primers out there, but no matter what it always seems to be gone by the next time I look in the mirror, so I just figure why even bother!)
Mascara: CoverGirl Professional Remarkable waterproof in Very Black (purple bottle) or CoverGirl Professional Super Thick Lash (red bottle) in Brown/Black
Lips: Clinique Longwear Glosswear in Sunset (really wanting to try out their new Chubby Stick Lip Moisturizer though!) or Burt's Bees Lip Balm in Replenishing Pomegranate

To Remove: ALMAY oil-free eye make-up remover pads (there is nothing I hate more than eye make-up left on my eyes when I sleep!) and plain ol' Kroger brand make-up remover cloths.

  1. I am a Mary Kay fan- so I use all of their skin care products and make up. My favorite trick is using an eyeliner pencil and dipping it in charcoal gray shadow to use as eyeliner. This makes the look not so severe, and it gives me some area to smudge.
